A team from Peasley Middle School will compete in the Virginia Regional Middle School Science Bowl hosted by U.S. Department of Energy’s Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility.
This event will take place virtually on Saturday from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Peasley will be one of 14 teams from 11 schools competing.
The teams will be quizzed on their knowledge of math and a range of science disciplines. Each team will compete in three preliminary rounds, with eight top-scoring teams competing in elimination rounds.
The top three teams at Saturday’s regional competition will earn cash prizes and team trophies for their respective schools. The top team will also represent Virginia at the National Science Bowl finals, with preliminary rounds to be held virtually in April. The top 32 middle schools will then compete in the virtual elimination tournament on May 8.
