Swimmers are being recruited for the eighth annual Peace Frogs Bank-to-Bank Swim, which is scheduled for Sunday, May 27, to benefit various local and regional organizations that assist children.
The swim, which has raised over $100,000 in the past seven years, will return to the York River this year, with participants conducting a 3.2 mile or 5K swim.
Peter Wilcox, who is heading up the effort alongside Catesby Jones, said an optional swim will be available for those who want to push their limits.
"On Saturday the 26th, those who want can swim across the mouth of the Mobjack Bay (6 miles or 10K)," Wilcox said. "Why? Why not? As it is harder to raise charitable dollars in this economy, adding this option will serve to somewhat ease the fundraising for those committing to the longer Saturday swim while everyone participates in the Sunday York River swim."
Wilcox said teams are allowed for the fundraising event.
