Paul Scott Smith, 55, of Gloucester Point, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at his home, following a long illness.
He was employed at Philip Morris in Richmond as an engineer, and had been on leave for sometime.
He was an avid sport fisherman and loved the Chesapeake Bay. Paul was like a son to anyone who needed help. One of his greatest joys was providing Christmas to a needy family. He also had an intense love for animals.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul James Smith, and a sister, Cynthia Smith Sears.
He is survived by his mother, Grace Smith Ellis; his wife, Mary S. Smith; two sisters, Joyce Smith Bulifant and Debra Smith Pointer. He is also survived by two stepchildren, William R. Havens and Melissa A. McCulloch; one niece, and several nephews.
The family would like to thank all the friends and neighbors who showed their concern and help during and after his passing. Our great appreciation to Dr. John Bryant for all his care, compassion, and concern during and after Paul’s long illness.
We will love, miss, and remember you forever.
Funeral services will be private.
