Patricia Cornett Landau of Saluda, Va., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2022, surrounded by her family after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. Even after being diagnosed, Pat refused to live anything other than her best life. A devoted wife, mother, and friend to many, she will be dearly missed by those whose lives she touched.
Pat was an avid painter, whose work captured her love and appreciation for the beauty of the natural and everyday world. This love of nature extended to the animal kingdom—Pat was particularly fond of Shetland Sheepdogs and Australian Shepherds. She was a prolific breeder of the former, having raised dozens of Shelties, including several champion show dogs.
But Pat’s greatest passion was her work at the Gloucester Montessori School. In a career spanning decades, “Miss Pat” served as a teacher, administrator, and head of school, and had a direct hand in training many teachers and professionals. She believed in nurturing the potential of every child, and has forever changed our community for the better.
Pat is survived by her husband, Don, and children, Ryan and Rebecca, who ask that you join them in remembering her on Dec. 10 at the Gloucester Montessori School in Gloucester, Va., from 2-4 p.m. for a celebration of her life. A scholarship fund is being created in Pat’s name honoring her legacy; for details, contact the Gloucester Montessori School at 804-699-3020.
