Pastor West to share ‘Tales of Guinea’ Monday at GGSV meeting

The Gloucester Genealogical Society of Virginia will hold its fall start-up meeting at 10 a.m. Monday in the Community Room of the Gloucester Public Library, Main Street Center. Bill West, pastor of Severn Church, will present the program, “Tales of Guinea.” The public is invited.
When he was growing up, West spent a lot of time at his grandparents’ home at the end of Severn Wharf Road, near Achilles. He will talk about his memories and share stories, some of which are captured in his memoir, “This Really Happened in Guinea.” His stories “honor those watermen and women who work hard and play hard,” a release stated.
Both funny and serious, West captures a simpler time and brings his memories of history alive to an audience. West’s memoir, both in print form and on DVD, will be available for sale at the program.
