Mathews Rotary Club held its third annual Party With a Purpose Saturday night at Williams Wharf. This year’s purpose was to raise money for the Mathews Land Conservancy’s Owens Maritime Education and Rowing Center at Williams Wharf. With a new board of directors with project specific skills, MLC is positioned to initiate Phase 3 Construction to complete the Owens Center. The completed building will house education and research facilities, an indoor/outdoor event space with kitchen and training facilities for local, regional and national crews. Mathews Rotary raised in excess of $10,000. The club also announced that it has awarded grants to several other area organizations to date through its other fundraising efforts throughout the year.
