Mathews Rotary Club held its fundraising Oyster Roast and BBQ Riot on Saturday at Williams Wharf. Beautiful weather, fat salty oysters from Mathews waters eaten raw or wood-fire roasted, BBQ with all the trimmings and music provided by Rob Oliver led to a successful afternoon. Approximately 200 people attended the all-you-can-eat event. All the funds that Mathews Rotary raised go directly into the community such as scholarships, purchase of AED devices, New Point Lighthouse overlook, sewing machines for the schools, etc. Here, Bruce Lewis, left, and Bill Stearns tend the roasted oysters.
