Dressed as Spider-man and a butterfly, Mimi and Martin Weatherwax, the children of Marsha Weatherwax of Hayes, rappelled 11 stories (150 feet) down the side of the Marriott City Center in Newport News on Saturday in Over The Edge, a program to demonstrate support for The DeGood Foundation and its work with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Hampton Roads. Over The Edge participants each raised $1,000 or more for The DeGood Foundation to get more books into the hands of kids, providing free books to children each month. They raised over $2,500, with 685 children in Gloucester now receiving a book every month. All three are shown at the event, with Mimi and Martin pictured just before they began rappelling.
