The Gloucester Outlaws 14U team defeated the Charles City Panther, 27-6, and the Peninsula Saints, 18-12, over the weekend, and will advance to the championship game through American Youth Football May 20.
Quarterback Steven Byrd Jr. of the Outlaws rushed for 110 yards and achieved three touchdowns; wide receiver Omari Lockley had 40 yards and one touchdown; wide receiver Torenzo Collins had four catches and two extra points; running backs Robert Winston Jr. and Landon Stanley combined for 80 yards.
On defense, Brandon McDonald forced a fumble which was recovered by Maliq Jackson. Sheppard Herlong had two sacks throughout the game.
For the Saints game, Byrd had 160 yards rushing with two touchdowns and 125 yards passing for one touchdown. Winston and Stanley combined for 75 yards rushing; Collins had five catches for 60 yards; Lockley had three catches for 35 yards with one touchdown; and Jackson had two catches for 30 yards.
