At Tuesday’s regularly scheduled monthly meeting, the Gloucester County School Board honored its four outgoing members, as well as recently retired superintendent of schools Dr. Walter R. Clemons at the T.C. Walker Education Center auditorium.
The board adopted resolutions of appreciation and presented plaques to outgoing school board members Randy Burak (Abingdon), Robin Rice (At-Large), Darren Post (Ware) and Nicole McPherson (At-Large) for their service. During public comment, several community members expressed their appreciation for these board members’ service, particularly Post.
Also at the meeting, Del. Keith Hodges (R-Urbanna) presented a resolution from the Virginia House of Delegates to Clemons commending his work in public education.
“I truly had a wonderful experience,” said Clemons about his career. “And it’s all because of the wonderful community in which we serve.”
