Opry to present Oldies Show Saturday

Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry will take its fans back in time to the “good ol’ days” of country and rock and roll this Saturday with its Oldies Show starting at 8 p.m. in the Harry M. Ward Auditorium at Mathews High School.
The show will feature the house band, Shades of Country, and all of the Opry singers plus some guest stars performing the best songs of the 1950s, ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. Doors open to the public at 7:30.
“This is one of the most requested shows we do each year,” Opry manager Lynda Smith said. The Li’l Ole Opry cast will reach back in the songbook to present their version of classic songs like “Midnight Train to Georgia,” “Rhinestone Cowboy,” “Hey Jude” and “Son of a Preacherman,” to name a few, complete with period costumes and dance moves.
