Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry will pay tribute to two of the best decades in country music—the 1980s and 1990s—in Saturday’s “Prime Country” show at Mathews High School’s Harry M. Ward Auditorium. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the show that begins at 7:30.
“These two decades truly had some of the best artists and songs in country music history,” stated Opry president Lynda Smith. Audiences will hear music from stars of that era, including Martina McBride, Travis Tritt, Wynonna, George Strait, Brooks and Dunn, Garth Brooks, Vince Gill and many more, including a mini tribute to the late Toby Keith.
Saturday’s show will feature Opry band and singers William Earl Sadler, Richard Smith, David Shuber, Sam Hogge, Lynda Smith, Mike McDevitt, Mike Gregg, LeighAnn Abbott, A.J. Mc-Keen, Ralph Motley, Susan Ripley, Tracy Hill, Faith Kemp, Shane Norris and special guest Shane Stewart.
