Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry will kick up its heels this Saturday taking its audience back in time to the “good ol’ days” of country and rock and roll from the decades of the 1950s and ’60s.
The show will feature the house band, Shades of Country, and all of the Opry singers, including some special guests, performing the best songs of yesteryear. The show will be at Mathews High School’s Harry M. Ward auditorium. Doors open at 7 and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.
“Since our oldies shows are the most requested of each year, we decided to do two this year with this week’s show focusing on ’50s and ’60s music,” stated Opry president Lynda Smith. Be prepared to reminisce with songs from Tammy Wynette, Brenda Lee, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, The Four Tops and many more.
Mathews’ own Walt Stillman will be a guest performer on the show. He joins Smith, William Earl Sadler, Ralph Motley, David Shuber, Sam Hogge, Mike McDevitt, Susan Ripley, Tracy Hill, A.J....
