An opening reception for a show featuring works by 2023 Gloucester Arts Festival award winners Kim Hall and Daniel Robbins will be held from 6–8 p.m. Friday at Arts on Main in Gloucester.
Hall said she loves the freedom of wandering backroads and “coming upon the perfect spot to pull over and set up my easel.” She balances those experiences with the sanctuary of her studio, where she can “work larger,” experiment, and “see where a painting will take me.”
Robbins said he grew up in Virginia Beach, attending the Old Donation Center (School) for the Gifted and Talented, followed by the Governor’s School for the Arts. He studied Communication Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University, receiving multiple awards for artistic and academic achievement.
The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be provided, and beer and wine will be available for purchase.
