Local officials and representatives of the U.S. Coast Guard and Rep. Rob Wittman’s office met on Monday to take a ride out to the Hole in the Wall channel between Milford Haven and the Chesapeake Bay.
U.S. Coast Guard Sector Virginia Chief Warrant Officer Jason Brisson said that, with the dredging project approved for the channel, he wanted to “see it for my own eyes—to bring a sector perspective to it.” He was accompanied by Station Milford Haven’s new Officer in Charge Adelynn Drescher.
Joe Schumacher, District Director for the Congressman, said that Wittman, Del. Keith Hodges, the Middle Peninsula Planning District Commission, and others had all worked together to convince the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to issue the permit for the project.
