County offices in Gloucester and most county offices in Mathews will be closed on Friday, Jan. 1, for New Year’s Day, along with post offices, DMV customer service centers, and waste facilities in both Gloucester and Mathews.
Offices, county libraries and courts are closed today and Friday in observance of the Christmas holiday.
All courts in both counties will be closed both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
The Mathews County Commissioner of the Revenue and Treasurer’s offices will be closed Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 30 through Jan. 1, re-opening for normal hours on Monday, Jan. 4.
Libraries in both counties will be closed Friday through Sunday, Jan. 1-3.
Schools in Gloucester closed this past Monday, while Mathews schools closed on Wednesday, and all schools will remain closed through both holidays, reopening on Monday, Jan. 4.
