Offices close for New Year’s holiday

Many government offices in Gloucester and Mathews remained closed this week for the Christmas holiday, with closings next week for New Year’s, as well.
All circuit and district courts in Gloucester and Mathews closed on Christmas Eve and will reopen on Friday. They will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, as well, for New Year’s.
Administrative offices, libraries, and DMV customer service centers in both counties were closed Tuesday and Wednesday, reopening today, Thursday, Dec. 26. For the New Year’s holiday, Mathews and Gloucester administrative offices and DMV offices will be closed on Jan. 1 only, while Gloucester libraries will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and remain closed on Jan. 1. Mathews Memorial Library will be closed on New Year’s Day only.
