Come October 15 at Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church in Mathews, visitors can enjoy Oktoberfest. This festival began in Germany in 1810, where it is still held annually for 16-18 days in the city of Munich and today is known as the world’s largest fair.
Members of Our Lady of the Bay Council #11210 of the Knights of Columbus will present their first rendition of a true Oktoberfest, one that will feature the best German beer, the best German foods and an evening of fun. To add to the atmosphere some gentlemen will be wearing their lederhosen while the ladies will be dressed in their dirndls, all traditional German dress. These Knights are an organization of 125 members from both Francis de Sales and the Church of The Visitation in Middlesex; and they will put on the affair with the help of the ladies.
