Noah Clements Carr Jr., 94, of Hayes, Virginia, passed away on Nov. 29, 2022 after a brief illness. Clements was born on May 2, 1928 in Glass, Va., to N. Clements Carr Sr. and Julia Erman Carr. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 52 years, Lois Marie Ash Carr, and his siblings, Bert Carr, Aileen Williams and Al Carr. Clements was a lifelong resident of Gloucester County, graduated from Achilles High School in 1946 and attended William and Mary and the University of Virginia. He served in the Army during the Korean War in Austria. He worked at the Chesapeake Corporation and Naval Weapons Station but the only job he loved was being a waterman. Captain Junior Carr owned and operated the Janice and O.A. Bloxom. He was a faithful member and served as deacon of Gloucester Point Baptist Church. He was a member of Achilles Masonic Lodge AF&AM #281 and the Tidewater Shrine Club. He was an avid fisherman, longtime Redskins fan and loved to travel to Sanibel Island, Fla.
He is survived by his four children, Randall A. Carr of Hayes, W. Kenton Carr of Williamsburg, Cynthia Carr Garrison (Carl-eton) of Manassas, and Rachael Carr Ward of Hayes; his sister, Peggy Carr Gillette of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, Ryan Ward, Alan Ward and Warner Ward of Gwynn’s Island, and Ashley Garrison and Cole Garrison of Manassas; one great-granddaughter, Rylee Foster Ward, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He also had five grand dogs that he dearly loved–Maggie Mae, Layla, Shiloh, Sophie and Chance.
Visitation was Monday, Dec. 5, 2022, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester. The family also had visitation at Gloucester Point Baptist Church, Gloucester Point, Va., starting at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, followed by the funeral service at 2. Interment followed in the Gloucester Point Cemetery after which, the family received friends in the Gloucester Point Baptist Church fellowship hall.
