No action taken following closed session meeting

The Mathews County Board of Supervisors took no action, made no comments, and immediately adjourned after a nearly two-and-a-half-hour special closed session last Wednesday, Dec. 27. It was the final board meeting of 2023, with a newly-configured board to be seated on Jan. 3.
The session had been called to discuss issues that were previously raised in a closed session held during the last regular board meeting of the year on Dec. 19.
The first topic scheduled for both meetings was “discussion, consideration, or interviews of prospective candidates for employment, assignment, appointment, promotion, performance, demotion, salaries, disciplining, or resignation of specific public officers, appointees, or employees of any public body,” per Virginia Code 2.2-3711 (A)(1).
