NNO concludes season with ‘Too Hot to Handel’

The Northern Neck Orchestra will perform an all-Baroque concert featuring a gospel version of Handel’s Messiah and classic works by Bach to conclude its 2022-2023 season on Saturday, May 20, at the Northumberland High School Theater in Heathsville.
The performance will showcase the Virginia premiere of “Too Hot to Handel: The Gospel Messiah,” a fusion of George Frideric Handel’s masterpiece with gospel harmony, jazz, rock and blues.
The program also features three classic works by Johann Sebastian Bach: Orchestral Suite No. 3, Sheep May Safely Graze and Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., preceded by a pre-concert talk at 6:45 p.m. by Music Director Michael Repper. Tickets are $40 and may be purchased at the door or online at www.northernneckorchestra.org. Students are admitted free.
