Nine drivers take checkered flags at VMS

It was a tale of two stories in the Victory Lap Late Model twin features on Saturday night at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway with one driver getting his first win in 10 years and the other continuing his domination of the division.
In the first feature at the Middlesex County track, John Staton of Chesapeake returned to victory lane after a 10-year absence, holding off Justin Williams of Shipman, for the win. In the second 15-lap feature, Williams dominated for his fifth win of the season.
In other action Matt Quade of Mechanicsville, Md., took out the broom and swept both Budweiser Modified features. In the Aaron’s Pro Late Model division Daniel Baggerly of Rural Retreat, scored his second win of the season and Joe Ender of Glen Allen, picked up his first win in the division. In the Truckin’ Thunder Sportsman division, James Snead of Fredericksburg, picked up his career first victory and Hunter Shelton of Fredericksburg, scored his fourth win of the season. An...
