New Year’s murder suspect turns himself in

A 15-year-old male suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day in Hayes turned himself in to the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office Monday night.
GCSO announced Sunday afternoon that the Gloucester County Emergency Communications Center had received a call at approximately 1:05 a.m. regarding a shooting in the 7800 block of Guinea Road, which resulted in a fatality. The 15-year-old male shooting suspect fled the scene before the arrival of law enforcement.
When deputies arrived, one of the victims, 19-year-old Tyler Heywood of Mathews, was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound outside the residence.
The other victim, also an adult male, was found suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center for treatment and was later released.
