The Mathews Rotary Club recently welcomed seven new members. Shown here are new members Mike Delaney, Barry Napp, Leslie Scanlan and Mike Scanlan. Not pictured are Brian Russell, Dee Russell and David Throckmorton. The club also has a scholarship fund for two students each year. The next fundraising event is the annual Chili Cook-off to be held Feb. 10 at the Piankatank Ruritan Club, Hudgins. Tickets can be purchased at Chesapeake Bank, Mathews Visitor Center, Haskins Bayside Service Center and at mathewsrotaryclub.org. Competitors are the Mathews Land Conservancy, the Mathews Kiwanis Club, Bay School of the Arts, Mathews Historical Museum, and Mathews Rotary. There will be Judges’ Choice (Bobbi and Paul Hatton) and Peoples’ Choice (attendees) awards, as well as best decorated booth.
