In news around Susan, the Rev. J.A. Winn, our new pastor at St. Paul’s, has delivered two sermons. He is a plain, practical, forceful preacher, seems to like his charge and the people seem to like him. He is now settled in his new parsonage and is expecting big things to come to pass in the field in which he has been called to labor.
We are having the warmest and driest fall for a long time if ever. Some of the wells that have been producing plenty of water during the past are now dry and the people have to haul water from some of their more fortunate neighbors.
Capt. S.K. Miles continues to head the list of successful pork raisers, a few days ago he butchered a hog that had gained largely over a pound per day from the time it was born. —Leumas
