The Mathews County Sheriff’s Office reported Friday morning that two New Point residents, Melissa and Adam Moore of the 400 block of Whites Point Lane, were found stabbed to death in their home on Wednesday, June 8. The suspect, their 24-year-old son, was apprehended by MCSO investigators in Lynchburg, Virginia on Thursday, June 9.
The sheriff’s office said in a press release that it was investigating a report that the three were missing from the New Point area of the county on June 8 after family members had not seen or heard from them since Monday, June 6.
Sheriff’s deputies later determined that a vehicle owned by Adam Moore was missing. Sheriff’s deputies gained entry to the residence and discovered the bodies of Melissa and Adam Moore. Both bodies were in the master bedroom of the residence. Each victim had suffered multiple lacerations, the press release said.
