TOGETHER FOREVER
Nellie Mary Walker of Onemo, Va., passed away Nov. 13, 2014 peacefully in her sleep with her loving family by her side.
Born Dec. 24, 1925 in New London, Conn., she was a very loving, caring, giving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters and her loving husband of 63 years Robert (Bob) Walker, Nellie leaves to cherish her memory a son, Robert F. Walker of Onemo, Va.; two daughters, Linda W. Via of Gloucester, Va., Rhonda W. Majewski and her husband Timothy of Suffolk, Va.; five grandchildren, Suzanne Via Rosen and her husband Kevin of Cambridge, Md., Stephanie M. Majewski of Charlotte, N.C., Brandon C. Majewski of Suffolk, Zachary V. Walker of San Diego, Cal., and Nicholas F. Walker of Jacksonville, Fla.
Nellie was a longstanding member of the Church of Francis de Sales in Mathews, Va. She loved her church family and enjoyed helping with many church activities.
Family members will receive relatives and friends at the Church of Francis de Sales, 176 Lover’s Lane, Mathews, Va. 23109 on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, from 1-2 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection, conducted by Father Robert Cummins will be held at 2:15. A graveside service following the Mass will be held at H.C. Smither Cemetery, Hudgins, Va. Following the internment a reception will be held at the Church of Francis de Sales.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be sent to the Church of Francis de Sales, Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad or Riverside Hospice, 12420 Warwick Blvd., Bldg 6, Suite 6K, Newport News, Va. 23606.
The Walker children would like to express their deep appreciation and gratitude to the Riverside Hospice Care Team for their loving support and care for their mother during her illness.
