The Gloucester Ruritan Club holds monthly dinner meetings at the Courthouse Restaurant in Gloucester. The two most recent meetings had nature themes. At the group’s September meeting (photo at left), president Jackie Beyea (right) presented Denise and Jay Hutchins from Brent & Becky Bulbs a club mug for their talk about how their retail business was affected during the COVID lockdowns, leading them to do more bulb orders online with individuals instead of larger companies. In October (photo at right) club vice president Henry Thompson posed as Hayseed Hank, presenting a club mug to Doug Dwoyer, a member of the Middle Peninsula Master Naturalists. Dwoyer discussed how his group monitored the more than 40 bluebird boxes on the four bluebird trails in Gloucester as well as how he managed the 12 boxes at Brent & Becky’s Bulbs. He recommended that people go to the Virginia Bluebird Society website for more information.
