NAMI donates copies of book to local libraries

The Mid-Tidewater affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness has donated copies of the book “I Am Not Sick; I Don’t Need Help” to libraries in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula.
Written by clinical psychologist Xavier Amador, this book provides understanding and guidance for communicating and building relationships with persons with serious mental illness and/or addictions who do not think they need help. Family members, mental health and criminal health professionals will find using the LEAP (Listen, Empathize, Agree and Partner) communication strategy explained in the book useful, a release said.
Copies are available at the following libraries: Gloucester County, Mathews County, Middlesex County, Essex County, Lancaster County, King and Queen County, King William County, Northumberland County, Rappahannock Community College (both the Glenns and Warsaw campuses), Richmond County, Westmoreland County and West Point.
