Name selected for Middle Peninsula’s artisan trail

A name has been selected for the artisan trail that is being created to connect arts and craft centers, farms, locally owned lodgings and restaurants, breweries and wineries, and other related businesses in Gloucester, Essex, Mathews and Middlesex counties.
The name “River to Bay Artisan Trail” was chosen “to describe the beauty of the sparkling waters that surround the Middle Peninsula,” said Michelle Brown, Middlesex County Economic Development and Tourism Coordinator in a press release.
The River to Bay Artisan Trail is part of the Virginia Artisan Trail Network, said the release. It focuses on handcrafted and locally grown products and is important as an economic development and tourism initiative.
“Connecting and showcasing local businesses and points of interest as a singular, cohesive visitor destination generates increased visibility for the region and encourages extended stays by visitors,” said the release.
