NAACP holds welcome reception for Dr. Vladu

The Gloucester County NAACP held a welcome reception for new Gloucester County Public Schools superintendent Dr. Anthony Vladu last Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the newly renovated Woodville Rosenwald School, located on Route 17 in Ordinary.
In her welcoming statement, Dr. Lourdes Travieso-Parker, education chair for the NAACP chapter, said part of the group’s mission is to help “foster a safe, supportive and educational environment.”
“We thank you,” said NAACP president Pamela Griffin-Armstead during her remarks. “This is a small community, but it’s a big community and you’re going to have your work cut out for you.
“We are here for you, Dr. Vladu,” continued Griffin-Armstead. “Call us anytime.”
“Right now, I feel the history here and I feel very humbled,” said Vladu in his response. “Education opens doors,” he said. “It expands minds.”
Vladu said he was excited for the opportunity for students to be able to visit the Woodville school and learn its history.
