MYRTLE JANE DIGGS BLANOCK

Heaven has gained a beautiful and faithful angel. Myrtle Jane Diggs Blanock was born in Onemo, Virginia, on November 4, 1934 and passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 6, 2024. Jane was the daughter of the late Eldred and Janie Morgan Diggs. She was the beloved wife and dance partner to the late F. Paul Blanock Sr. for 67 years. They were married on June 29, 1953. She was born and raised in Mathews County and graduated from Mathews High School in 1952. She was a member of Bethel Church of Mathews, DAR, and Mathews Woman’s Club. Together they created many happy memories while ballroom dancing and traveling the world. They shared a love for the beach and spent countless long weekends at their condo in Kitty Hawk. Jane was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, which was the most rewarding part of her life. She will be cherished and loved by her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, as well as her sister, Jacqueline Croxton and husband Les; nephews, Leslie Croxton Jr., Bobby Croxton and daughter-in-law, Ellen Blanock.

Jane is survived by her three children, Francis Blanock, Lisa B. Kennedy (Mac) and Amy Blanock Hudgins (Robert) and four granddaughters, Madeline Hudgins (John and sons, Jordan and Jackson), Sarah Jane Kennedy, Morgan H. Schultz (Jeff), Hannah Kennedy; her beloved dog “Buffy,” and a host of cousins and close friends.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Bethel Church of Mathews, Onemo, Virginia. A funeral service will follow at 11 o’clock at the church with burial to follow in Pear Tree Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Jane requested donations be made in her memory to Bethel Church of Mathews, P.O. Box 1104, Mathews, Va. 23109.
