Homeschool families who are seeking an affordable option for music enrichment can look no further than the Homeschool Music Academy of Gloucester.
The new nonprofit will be operating at Bethany United Methodist Church, Gloucester Point, on Fridays, with an official start date of Sept. 8. Classes offered will be elementary music, general music, junior orchestra, string ensemble, guitar class, high school music theory, senior choir and senior orchestra. Homeschool students in pre-K through 12th grade can participate.
“It’s filling a huge need,” said Julia Middleton, academy director.
The academy will also be equipped with instructors who can give guidance on college auditions for students who would like to pursue that path. Staff can also recommend private instructors.
“We’re excited about it because we know it’s a worthwhile program to start up,” said Middleton.
