Museum raffle winners

At the close of the 2024 Mathews Museum year, winners of two raffle contests were named. Linda Stemple, top photo, a visitor from Irvington and a member of the Rivah Quilters group in Heathsville, claimed the antique quilt, along with an antique rocker. Winning the wine basket was Ellen Bernsdorf of Hudgins, bottom photo, a museum events committee member. Museum president Tom Robinson stands behind her. The museum recently concluded a three-month exhibition of nearly 30 quilts, some dating to the Civil War era, from the Diggs family. The museum will be closed for renovation in January and will reopen in February with special programs in recognition of African American History Month, a release said.
