Museum open house

Tompkins Cottage Museum will have a Christmas Open House from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The cottage is decorated for Christmas in the traditional style of the mid-1800s. Available for sale is the new Mathews Historic Courthouse ornament as well as other ornaments in the historic Mathews County series, publications of Mathews County Historical Society, and Capt. Sally Tompkins dolls. Preparing for the event are, from left, museum curator Becky Barnhardt, docent coordinator Reed Lawson and historical society president Bobbi Hatton. Refreshments will be served.
