‘Muse’ exhibit opens Friday at Bay School

An opening reception for the show, “Muse,” an exhibition of sculptures and paintings by local artists Sue Henshaw and Rebecca West, will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the Bay School Community Arts Center on Main Street in Mathews.
Muse looks at creative inspiration—where ideas come from and how they find their way into form, said a press release.
Henshaw was a career potter for over 40 years, running her business from Roanoke and Richmond, said the release. She originally honed her skills at Virginia Commonwealth University, moving from there on to be Potter-in-Residence at the Roanoke Museum of Fine Arts for 10 years, and the Roanoke City Artist-in-Residence for two years. 
Award-winning pieces by Henshaw have been shown in art and craft shows along the eastern seaboard, said the release. The ceramic pieces in this show were largely inspired by stories and graphic novels written by her son, Clay McLeod Chapman.
