The Muscarelle Museum of Art at William and Mary will reopen Saturday after a two-year expansion project at 603 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg.
The public is invited to Grand Opening Day, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., said a press release, with guided tours of the newly expanded building and a chance for all ages to participate in art activities led by Muscarelle’s art educators.
Twelve galleries will be open for tours, displaying highlights of Muscarelle’s permanent collection, and the revamped museum’s first special exhibition, “William & Mary Collects III,” will be on display, featuring diverse artwork on loan from alumni and friends of the university.
The expansion project has dramatically transformed the Muscarelle Museum of Art, said the release, tripling its size and creating a state-of-the-art regional hub where visitors can engage with art.
