Mrs. Harriet Stoakes, mother of Mr. W.R. Stoakes, now 92 years old, was at Salem Church last Sunday. She is a remarkable woman and has been blind for a number of years but retains her other faculties almost perfectly.

The ladies of this community are very much interested in Red Cross work and are not only willing but anxious to do all in their power to further the great, good cause. They hope soon to have material and patterns and cut out work here, thinking by doing so they can accomplish more.
The Rev. B.N. de Foe-Wagner will lecture at the hall near Mobjack, on Monday, May 20, on “Red Cross Work,” and “Why we are in the War.” A silver offering will be taken at the door.
