Gloucester’s department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism is exploring the possibility of building a mountain bike trail on property near Home Depot off Route 17, said Carol Steele, director.
Steele presented a brief report about the project during a meeting of the Gloucester Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee Monday night at Gloucester County Office Building #1. The committee took no action on the matter.
It is estimated to cost approximately $20,000 to set up the mountain bike trail, which might include wooden planks over a designated trail, Steele said. At present, there’s about $5,000 on hand to use for the trail, from several fundraising bike rides.
No timeframe was indicated for when the trail might be set up. After the meeting, Steele said that she wants more work on Woodville Park at Ordinary to be completed before the mountain bike trail project is tackled.
