Morgan Rouse Cartwright III, age 80, of Williamsburg, Va., died on Thursday, June 1, 2023. Morgan was born on October 16, 1942, in Stuart, Fla., to the late Morgan and Camila Sneed Cartwright. He attended Thomas Nelson College and Christopher Newport College in Virginia and he received service certificates from five police academies. Morgan served several years in the United States Navy, and the Virginia Police Department in Newport News and Altavista, Va., before joining the Armed Forces Experimental Training Activity, Camp Peary, Va., retiring in 1998. Morgan was preceded in death by his wife, Donna. They were married for 49 years. They spent retirement years living in Williamsburg. They enjoyed working together at Busch Gardens, traveling especially on cruises, playing board games with friends and neighbors, and devoted their life to Jesus Christ. His survivors include his son, Michael J. Cartwright (Nancy) of Lanexa, Va.; grandchildren, Andrew Michael Cartwright (Tiffany) of Virginia Beach, and Zachary William Cartwright (Paige) of Hamburg, N.Y., and seven great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Gloucester Point Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. David Faith.
