Moore case advances to grand jury

Jonathan Thomas Moore of New Point, who was arrested in June after the stabbing death of his parents, Adam and Melissa Moore of New Point, appeared in Mathews Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Wednesday morning at a preliminary hearing to determine whether there was probable cause to certify his case to the grand jury.
Moore is charged with two counts each of first-degree murder and stab in the commission of a felony.
Judge Judith A. Kline, a retired judge from Newport News, determined after a brief hearing that there was probable cause.
Investigator April Edwards of the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office was the only witness to testify. She described to the court the condition of the Moore home on White Point Lane when she arrived on June 8. She said there were blood droplets going in the house, up the steps, across the kitchen floor, in the hallway, and in the bathroom sink, and that there was a pool of blood outside the master bedroom door.
