A funeral for Montrue Virginia Forrest, 83, of Mathews, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Cornerstone Fellowship Church, Cobbs Creek. She died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011.
Mrs. Forrest was born March 6, 1928 in Charles City, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vanvelt Miles and Mary F. Miles Smith; a sister, Thelma Crawley, and a son, Joseph Forrest.
She was educated in the Charles City, and New Brunswick New Jersey school systems. She was a member of Gilfield Baptist Church in Charles City. She moved to Mathews County in 1943, where she began work as a domestic housekeeper, a profession that she continued for 30 years.
Survivors include her husband, Lyinel T. Forrest Sr. of Abbeville, La.; eight children, Lyinel T. Forrest Jr. of Mathews, Robert A. Forrest Sr. of Jonesboro, Ga., Ronald L. Forrest of Cardinal, Va., Franklin V. Forrest of Mathews, Daniel M. Forrest Sr. of Hartfield, Va., Joszette Jones of Southfield, Mich., Apostle Steven A. Forrest Sr. of Mathews, and David L. Forrest of Sandston, Va.; two sisters, Geraldine Epps of Sterling Heights, Mich., and Leeoler Bowman of Mathews; 34 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Forrest Brothers Funeral Home, Hudgins, is in charge of arrangements.
