Gloucester dropped to 0-3 in Peninsula District football standings and 0-4 overall with a 35-0 loss at Menchville last Thursday. Monarch quarterback Edward Day completed 10 of 18 passes for 212 yards in the win.
Menchville scored in the first quarter on a long run by Quaret Hilbert. The Monarchs scored twice in the second quarter, once on a Hilbert punt return from midfield, to make it 20-0 at the half.
Gloucester started the third quarter with a successful onside kick and got to the Menchville 36 before quarterback James Scott fumbled. The Monarchs scored two late-game touchdowns and had a successful two-point conversion to close out scoring. The Dukes offense sputtered once again and they were only able to convert on one of 11 third-down situations.
