Mobjack Rowing Association’s winter training youth team traveled to Catholic High School in Virginia Beach to compete in the 26th annual Hampton Roads Erg Pull on Saturday, Feb. 8.
Hosted by the Hampton Roads Rowing Club and Catholic High, the eight Mobjack racers competed in seven different male, female and youth categories.
Mobjack’s training paid off with the team winning gold, silver and bronze medals in three events and five of the eight pulling new personal bests in their 2,000-meter event category.
Sam Tomcany took gold in the U17, besting 15 other entrants. Ray Hudgins won silver in the men’s open weight Under 19. Novices Harper Tomcany and Eloise Leslie placed third and ninth, respectively, out of 11 entries in the U15 event for 13-14 year olds with Harper Tomcany taking the bronze medal and Leslie improving her personal record by 16 seconds.At the end of the day’s racing, four-person challenge teams were formed where each four-member team’s machine monitors were tied together...
