Mildred Machen Aldrich, age 78, of Bohannon, Va., passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015.
She was born March 5, 1936 to Thomas and Eva Tate Estes. She was retired from Eastern State Hospital in housekeeping services.
She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Mobjack, Va., and was very active with the Mathews Lions Club and was known as the “Crab Lady.”
Preceded in death by her two husbands, Walter Edward Machen and James Garland Aldrich, she is survived by her son, Richard Machen (Danette) of Bohannon; daughter, Janet Rilee (Robert) of Gloucester; brother, Jerry Tate of Richmond; step-daughters, Darlene Kirkland (Lyn) of Richmond and Michelle Owens and fiancé Robert Miller of Middlesex County; grandchildren, Kristen Machen Boyer (Dan), Sarah Machen Huddle (John), Stephen Rilee, Amanda and Rachel Kirkland, Candace Owens and Bradley Miller and a great-grandson, Mason Boyer.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, from 6:30-8 p.m. in Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Va. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, with interment to follow in Providence Cemetery, Miles, Va.
