Middlesex speedway crowns 2010 champions

Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway wrapped up its 2010 season by recognizing the top 10 in each of the track’s divisions, with special attention reserved for the 2010 champions.

The Middlesex County track held its annual awards banquet and party on Saturday at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. At the event, Scott Adams of Chester, was crowned Victory Lap Late Model Champion, receiving a $5,000 check for his efforts.

The first-time champion also received an invitation to the Rocket Chassis Race Wise Chassis School, and, like Saturday’s other champions, a $500 certificate from the Joie of Seating, a driver portrait from MPH Productions, and his championship helmet trophy and jacket.

Rounding out the top 10 in Victory Lap Late Model points were Stevie Long of Mechanicsville, Md., Davis Lipscombe of Mechanicsville, Tom Cohick of Gloucester, Tim Shelton of Fredericksburg, Ben Bowie of Brandywine, Md., Matt Marshall of Stuarts Draft, Brandon Long of Mechanics...
