Michelle Lynn Morgan, 58, of Mathews, Va., passed peacefully into the better, eternal side of life, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late Lt. Col. John Robert Morgan Sr. She was born on December 30, 1965 in Richmond, Va., while her father served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Luther and Helen Morgan and Eddie and Mary Forrest, and also, her step-grandfather, the Rev. Robert A. Cooper. She graduated from Mathews High School in 1984 and from Lynchburg College in 1988. Basketball was her game and the Mathews girls on her team nicknamed her “Puff the Magic Dragon.” She is “Puff” to them still.
ln addition to her mother, Becky Forrest Morgan, she leaves to cherish her memory her beloved son, Ryan Adam Morgan; brother, John Robert Morgan Jr. (Andrea); nephew, Tristan Morgan; niece, Teaghan Melton (John); aunts, Janet Hunley and Mary Alice Hudgins (“C.W.”); uncle, John Harrison Armistead Jr.; Sherry Adams, and many cousins and their extended family members. She also had a multitude of friends from everywhere she lived. She was very close to her family, and they showed their love for her by visiting her along with many friends in the last days of her life.
She was baptized in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay into the Disciples of Christ Church in Newport News, Va. She operated “Picture Me” photography studio in Kilmarnock, Va., and was wonderful at photographing children.
Michelle lived life to the fullest, never complaining, and always with a big smile. She found joy in her Papillon, Lexi, and her mom’s Bichon Frise, Gabriel, which she thought of as a brother. She enjoyed delivering food for Meals on Wheels with her mom. A kind and caring person, she always thought of others first. Words can’t say how greatly she was loved and how much she will be missed.
