Michael Wayne Cheatham, 70, of Port Haywood, was called home to be with the Lord on June 23, 2017.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Wayne was a United States Army Vietnam War veteran.

He enjoyed spending time in the mountains, watching NASCAR, duck and deer hunting, and loved being with family and friends.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 31 years, Nita; his sons and their wives, Spencer and Carolyn Cheatham, and Matthew and Stephanie Cheatham; his grandsons, Jacob and Waylen Cheatham; a sister, Brenda Eddy, and many other family members and many friends.

Wayne never knew a stranger and he will be missed more than words can ever say by everyone who loved him.

A funeral service was held at 8 a.m. Wednesday, June 28 at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, Va. 23140. Interment followed in Washington Memorial Park. The family received friends 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 27 at the funeral home.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Waylen Cheatham’s Medical Fund, EVB Bank, P.O. Box 2075, Ashland, Va. 23005.
