Sgt. Major, U.S. Army-retired, Michael Walter Casey, 82, of Newport News, Va., died March 18, 2015.
SGM Casey served in the Army for 30 years. During his Army career he served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Born in Boston, Mass., he was a devoted Red Sox fan. SGM Casey loved his family and was devoted to his wife, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His death leaves a heartache, but his love leaves a memory that will be with us forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas F. and Bridget J. Casey; sister, Mary Murphy, and brothers, Thomas, John and James Casey.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helga R. Casey; daughters, Patricia B. Casey and Eileen M. Kersmarki (Richard); grandchildren, Kelly K. Hall (Mark) and Richard Kersmarki II (Polly); great-grandchildren, Grace and Eileen Hall, and soon to be born, Edward Kersmarki. He is also survived by two brothers, Paul (Ann), Edward (Carmella), and numerous nieces and nephews who have many wonderful memories of him.
A graveside funeral service with full military honors will be held at 3 p.m. July 21, 2015, at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
