It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dad into his Heavenly home. On the evening of July 6, 2023, Mike Swain departed this life unexpectedly at the age of 65. He was a faithful man of God and he served as an elder at BridgePoint Church in Gloucester, Va. He spoke openly and often about his deeply rooted faith in Jesus, and he planted seeds of that faith in the lives of many. He was a hardworking man of honor and integrity and he believed in doing the right thing, no matter the cost. He truly touched so many lives, and to know him was to love him. He was a devoted husband and the best dad my sister and I could’ve hoped for. He is survived by his daughters, Angie Norris (Allen) and Tracey Swain-Chapman (Adam); his four grandchildren; one great-grandchild, along with his mother, Dorcas Swain and four brothers. Our dad was an exceptional man. He was deeply loved and will be forever missed, but his love of Jesus, his kindness, and his devotion to his family will live on in our hearts. There will be a receiving of friends held in his honor on Sunday, July 16, 2023, from 3-4:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home in Hayes, Va. A funeral will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023, at 11 a.m. at BridgePoint Church (10487 Harcum Road, Gloucester, Va. 23061), conducted by Pastor Robert McTurnal, with a graveside service to follow at Windsor Gardens Cemetery. Contributions may be made in his honor to BridgePoint Church, 10487 Harcum Road, Gloucester, Va. 23061. Rest easy, Dad. We love you more than words can properly express.
